Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is in California police custody today after his Monday evening arrest for alleged involvement in a shooting incident. On Tuesday, police charged Velasquez with attempted murder. TMZ first reported the charges.
NBC Bay Area first reported the news. Spectation Sports confirmed the news Tuesday morning.
The police department's social media account put out a statement Tuesday afternoon.
"The motives and circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation at this time."
Another person was involved in the shooting and was transported to the hospital. Police took Velasquez to the Santa Clara County Jail, where he was refused bail.
