Extreme Maximus: Halloween Fightfest took place on Saturday, October 30, at the Wild Rose Casino & Hotel in Jefferson, Iowa. The card contained a mix of professional and amateur boxing matches. Below, you can check our recap of the five professional boxing matches that took place right here at SpectationSports.com.
Super middleweight: Johnny Case def. Joe Borys via first-round KO
The main event saw former UFC fighter Johnny Case move to 2-0 as a professional boxer with a brutal first-round KO over Joe Borys, who fell to 2-2. Case made his pro boxing debut in the summer, and he picked up a nice knockout win and returned to his hometown to knock out Borys on Saturday night. It looks like boxing might be a good sport for Case to compete in, especially given that RIZIN FF isn’t holding many events in Japan right now. If Case wants to continue his boxing career, you can expect him on an upcoming Extreme Maximus card. In two MMA fights so far, we have seen absolutely massive power out of Case, and now we’ll see what’s next.
Heavyweight: Jeremy Horn def. Ryan Antle via unanimous decision
In the co-main event, MMA legend Jeremy Horn moved to 2-0 as a professional boxer with a unanimous decision win over Ryan Antle, who dropped to 0-3 as a pro boxer. Horn is a UFC veteran and one of the most respected MMA fighters of all time, but he has made a move to boxing in his 40s, and it’s paying off. Despite being 46, Horn has won both of his boxing matches as a pro. He defeated Antle, a former training partner at the Miletich Fighting Systems gym in the early 2000s. Although Antle was able to go the distance, Horn won the decision. Given Horn’s importance to the Extreme Maximus promotion, you can expect him for another fight if he wants to do it.
Lightweight: Bernardo Manzano def. DeShawn Kennedy via unanimous decision
Bernando Manzano moved to 1-1 as a professional boxer with a unanimous decision victory over DeShawn Kennedy, who fell to 0-4. In what was a battle of two men entering the night without having tasted success as a professional boxer, it was Manzano who was the one who got his hand raised. It will be interesting to see what’s next for him.
Lightweight bout: Ken Davis Jr. def. Devin Parker via unanimous decision
Ken Davis Jr. improved to 6-2-1 as a professional boxer with a unanimous decision win over Devin Parker. Davis Jr. could outpoint his opponent throughout five rounds and earn the nod on the judges’ scorecards. This was a set-up fight intended for Davis Jr. to get a big win over a veteran, and he got the job done with the decision.
Middleweight bout: Leo Medel def. Thomas Allen via fourth-round TKO
The first pro boxing match on the card saw Leo Mendel stop Thomas Allen in the fourth round via punches. Mendel improved to a perfect 3-0 as a professional boxer, while Allen fell to 4-11 as a pro with the loss. It seems like Mendel would be someone Extreme Maximus would like to bring back for a future fight card, given this knockout win.
